Airbus delivers twins!
On May 3, 1990, aboard a new Airbus A320, Geraldine Asprec goes into labour mid-flight. Seven months pregnant, she was en route to her new home in Montreal – she immigrated that day to Canada from the Philippines! The captain carried out a special landing in Calgary, where an ambulance arrived just in time. Passengers waiting on the tarmac for clearance placed bets on whether it would be a boy or girl. Cheers rang out when it was revealed that Asprec had given birth to two healthy (if premature!) twins, a boy and a girl: Angela and Angelo Asprec. The headlines in the Calgary Herald dubbed the Airbus “Stork.”
